Klon was invited to go on an away mission to the planet because the inhabitants were elusive. The best way to find out what was going on was to stay on the surface for awhile. They found a spot and set up bunk beds for some and the officers had nice cots. There was rarely any rainy days so they camped in a secluded spot with no roof. They were within walking distance to a pit that some of the crew said was bottomless but the officers were sure it had a bottom. One of the crew and Klon were trying to see the bottom and the crew member fell into the pit. Klon activated his com badge and beamed up to the ship to try to help the falling crew member. He got the view screen showing him falling then a static disturbance eminated around the falling man and he slowed in his descent to come to a soft landing on the bottom. The static disturbance came from the place where the inhabitants of the planet lived. They would not have been noticed except for when they helped the falling man thier cloaking device was not operating. So Klon went to transport down to where the fallen man was and beamed into the inhabitants encampment instead. They altered his course to give him a message to take back to the ship. They said they had mental abilities far beyond what the ship was capable of. They could save that fellow just by thinking it and it would be done. They were showing an act of friendliness by saving that crew member and also showing not so friendly with thier cloaking device. So Klon left them and went to get the fellow crew mate and explained what saved him after they got back to the camp. After discussing this among themselves they decided that Klon should be the one to tell the captain that message. So Klon went to give the message to captain Picard and he was curious if Klon could determine if they should leave the planet or attempt to communicate with them.
